An Introduction to Embodied Prayer

Connecting with ourselves, with others and with God

This introductory session is about connecting - and in this approach to prayer we begin by connecting with our body through the sense of where our body is placed in relation to the space around us, the sense of our body moving, and the tactile sense. For all sorts of reasons many of us find it difficult to become aware of our body at a felt and sensory level. Taking a mindful approach can help us to cultivate the self-compassion and acceptance which opens the way for us to become more attentive to God’s goodness and grace, even within the fibres of our being.

Embodying scriptural affirmations can help us in this process. In this session we draw on insights from Psalm 139, remembering that the God who formed us, and knows us intimately, is never far away.

I’ve read that scripture so many times but it’s different to actually feel it in my body.”

“I felt so connected to the whole of creation and present in my body to Creator God.”

“I feel like I’ve come home.”

The session lasts about 1 hour and is available for small to medium-sized groups

Contribution: aprox £10.00 per person
